COFOUNDERS MESSAGE

01/26/09
Jim Fontaine & DJ Geribo, cofounders

Dear family, friends, and fellow protectors of wildife and wild places; it is with great pleasure that we bring to you this Premiere Issue of our new Eyes Alive newsletter!

And, what better way for us to also announce our 2009 goal for helping to save and protect wildlife and wildlife habitat around the world than in our inaugural edition!  We are asking for your help in reaching our goal.  We have set an ambitious goal — but, one that we know we can reach with your help — and, therefore, we are asking each and everyone to please take just a few moments from your busy day to forward this copy of our Eyes Alive newsletter to everyone you know and encourage them to subscribe!

Better yet, if you can find it in your heart to tell others about the work DJ and I are doing through www.EyeHelpAnimals.com to save and protect wildlife around the world, we will be forever grateful.

Helping us to spread the www.EyeHelpAnimals.com name is the single most important thing you can do to help us reach our goal and continue carrying out our Mission and Vision.

The more people you can help us to reach and tell the story of why we are so passionate about what we are doing, the faster we will reach our goal.  It is even possible that we can exceed our goal and that would be simply spectacular.

SAVING WILDLIFE TOGETHER

01/26/09

We're calling our 2009 fundraising efforts
our Saving wildlife together! campaign.

Our goal in this campaign is to sell 100,000 of our Wild Animal Eye Collectible Pins before December 31st, 2009.  And, we know we can do it with your help and ongoing support!

We are focusing on our Collectible Pins for many reasons, but the major one is that not only are our Wild Animal Eye Collectible Pins our Signature Product, but they are also our most affordable item.  At only $7.95, our pins cost less than:

  • a sandwich, chips, and soda
  • a matinee movie ticket
  • a dozen donuts
  • a regular car wash
  • a plain cheese pizza
And, don't forget — 25% of our profit goes directly to organizations that save and protect wildlife and habitat around the world!  Now, certainly that's got to make you feel better than what donuts or pizza will do to your waistline!  And, is your car really that dirty?

We just know that the more people who find out about Eye Help Animals, the faster we will reach or even exceed our goal!  We are doing everything we can to get the word out about Eye Help Animals.  But the reality is that the people we already know can help us to spread our Mission and Vision faster than anything we can do on our own.  If you tell 10 people about us and they do the same and then those 10 people tell 10 more people... (well, you get the picture), we can conceivably reach millions of people!

It's not impossible!  In fact it's entirely possible because e-mail and the internet make it so easy to reach out to other people.

DJ and I are inviting you to become a part of what is so exciting to us and we hope that you will get excited, too!  We hope you take this opportunity to be a part of something that is not just good for our planet, but good for everyone.

Whatever happens to the animals, will eventually happen to us.

With all of the political, economic, and environmental challenges that face us today, it is only by working together that we can hope to make a lasting impact.  And, that is why we are asking you to participate in our Saving wildlife together! campaign in 2009!

POLAR BEARS IN PERIL

01/15/09

You may have seen commercials recently that talk about the plight of the polar bears in the arctic.  Scientists believe that climate change is resulting in rapidly shrinking polar ice.  On May 14th, 2008, Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne announced that he accepted the recommendation of U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director Dale Hall to list the polar bear as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).
Kempthorne illustrated the listing decision with charts depicting satellite images of the differences in sea ice from the fall of 1979 to the fall of 2007.

  • "Last year, Arctic sea ice fell to the lowest level ever recorded by satellite, 39 percent below the long-term average from 1979 to 2000. The amount of sea ice loss in years 2002-2007 exceeded all previous record lows."
This is a perfect example of how wildlife conservation and habitat preservation are directly linked.  In many instances, it is simply impossible to protect a species without also preserving habitat.  Unfortunately in this case, the habitat in question is ice — a habitat that is difficult if not impossible to preserve if climate change continues unabated.  That is why some choices we make — such as whether or not to drive fuel efficient vehicles — have consequences that affect not only our immediate financial state but can have an impact on wildlife and habitat as well.

25% of the profits from the sales of our Animal Eye Collectible Pins directly support organizations that are actively working to save and protect this amazing animal.

DO YOU HAVE A PURPOSE?

01/17/09
DJ Geribo, cofounder

We have a vision — we see the world as a better place, a healthier place for all to live — for every man, woman, child, and animal on this planet.  Although we care deeply for all mankind, we know our path, our mission, is to help save the animals.  We know that without them, mankind is in trouble.

This is why we've created www.EyeHelpAnimals.com — a website that provides information and educational material about what we can do to save wildlife and preserve habitat around the world.  To raise funds towards this end, I am painting a series of wild animal eyes that we've reproduced on our Collectible Pins, clothing, and other items available for purchase in our online Gift Shop with 25% of all profits going to wildlife conservation and habitat preservation organizations around the world.

This is our passion, this is our purpose.
